Private Lessons
Personalized Companion Training
Your dog's temperament and behavioral status and challenges are an important
consideration when you are in the process of deciding between group class
training or private, individualized training. For some dogs, either format would
be an appropriate venue and a wonderful opportunity to learn and train. Dogs with certain innate characteristics and associated behavioral
challenges benefit from private lessons.
KerrKlickers offers private lessons, either in your
home or at the KerrKlickers Training Center
Therapy Dog
If you are interested in doing Pet Therapy or Canine
Literacy with your dog, it is recommended that you have
your dog
CGC
certified. The
Kathleen C Cailloux Humane Society of Kerrville
offers both Pet Therapy and Canine Literacy programs.
KerrKlickers offers a
class to help prepare your dog for CGC
certification. You can also work privately with
KerrKlickers to prepare for the CGC tests.
If you are interested in having your dog Delta Certified for Pet Therapy, you
may need to purchase the Pet Partner Team Training Manual
($37.50
+ s/h) and attend personalized classes or participate in selected group classes
to
prepare you and your dog to attend a training and evaluation event.
KerrKlickers CGC Prep class
gives you a start on this training. Private training with KerrKlickers is
another option to prepare your dog for the testing.
Evaluation
Places and Dates
Assistance & Service Dog
Private lessons are designed to train the specific tasks needed by the
owner/handler. The Public Access Test and/or TASK evaluation are conducted
through Assistance Canines of Texas
there is a $45.00 program registration cost and fees apply for testing ($60.00
PAT/TASK) and certification ($50.00). *
Assistance Partner: has successfully completed the AKC Good Citizen
Test. Is being trained in and needed for at least 6 service

Service Dog Team-in-training: has successfully completed the AKC CGC
Test but has not taken or passed the
Public
Assess Test and/or TASK evaluation.
Certified Service Dog Team: has successfully completed AKC Good
Citizen Test & the Public Access Test and TASK evaluation.
