Schedule:
Dog Manners I and II Classes
Dog Manners I students will begin their
training with attendance at an Introductory
Lesson. Classes will be offered in the afternoon or evening based on
demand. At least four students and their dogs are required for
KerrKlickers to schedule a new class. Four follow-on lessons for Dog
Manners I will be available to Dog Manners I attendees-- generally at the
same time as the Introductory Lesson. The lessons plus
additional practice at the Center will cover the following behaviors (see
the Dog Manners I information page for more information on these behaviors):
sit, pay attention, touch/follow a hand, walk on a loose leash, go to and
stay on a mat, down, recall, leave-it and wait at doors. In addition,
students will work on conditioning exercises with their dogs (these
"tricks" will keep their dogs in great shape throughout their lives if they
are asked frequently to do the trick). A self-assessment test will be
used at the end of the class so that students can determine their dog's
grasp of each of the behaviors covered. This will help the student
continue training after the class ends. The charge for the Dog Manners
I class is $45. If students feel they need to spend
more time working with their dog with help (beyond or during the 5 weeks at the
Center), they may schedule additional or make-up sessions with the
instructor. The charge for an additional session is $7.50. The
charge for a Make-up session is $5. Dog Manners I students must sign
up for the class prior to coming to the Training Center as each
Introductory Lesson will be limited to 6 dogs.
Dog Manners II students will be
scheduled based on demand for the class. Afternoon or evening classes
can be scheduled -- at least 3 students are required for a new class. New behaviors will be explained
and demonstrated in class.. Behaviors to be covered include: advanced nose
touching, paw touching, stand, back-up, give, and take, and scent
discrimination. Dog Manners II
students may also work on any of the Dog Manners I behaviors for which the
student feels his dog needs addition practice.
All students in Dog Manners I and Dog Manners
II will receive handouts for each introduced behavior — the handout explains
the goal of the behavior, offers step-by-step training for the behavior and
also includes a sheet setting goals for the accomplishment of the steps in
the training..
Canine Good Citizen Prep Class
Offered as there is demand; a minimum of
three dogs and owners is required to start a new class. Owners are asked
to attend the first four sessions of the class, additional classes will be on
a "drop-in" basis.
Individual sessions of this class are approximately an hour long.
Rally Introduction ClassesThe Rally
Novice/Advanced/Excellent class is currently structured to incorporate an
Introductory Element for those students just starting out. Attending
dogs should have attended at least the KerrKlickers Dog Manners I class and
have achieved success with loose-leash walking and sit on cue or have
equivalent experience.

they are able. Each session will include (if desired) practice on long
sits and downs.
